There are few Prime Ministers, if any, who are more well-loved, whose past is more romanticised, than that of Bob Hawke. This year our oldest living PM caught up with former editor of Australian Surfing Life, Stab Magazine, and Surf Europe and Beachgrit founder Derek Rielly in Bob’s loungeroom for cigars and conversations that cover life, death, love, sex, religion, politics, sport and more. Amongst the great prose that Derek Rielly has written, the author also once wrote a reference that landed me my dream job here at Surfing World back in 2010, so it’s only fair that I plug anything and everything he does – including brilliant first books with Prime Ministers – wherever I can. But this is a book that would be put here and glowingly written about regardless, because it’s a bloody ripper. Get your copy here.
