Movie Mountain, a fresh project from Foster Huntington (the guy who started the #vanlife hashtag, builds incredible things, and has made a bunch of great surf shorts, like Floater), is a little independent stop motion animation studio on a mountaintop somewhere in the north-west coast of the US that has been kicking quietly away at this masterpiece of short skate film for some time now. It’s their first and it’s called Pool Scum, a throwback to the skate-pool era of the early 80s Southern California, and the contrary opposing skate styles that filled the scene. And while it’s not even three minutes long, the intricate detail that’s gone into simple things like the props strewn around the pool – the mangey dog, the graffiti, the graphic on the beer can the first guy is drinking – the sound editing, the natural looking lighting, and the realisitic movement of the skaters, you can’t underestimate the hours it would have take took to put together this thing. So bloody impressive. It’s also just really sick, and guaranteed to give you a little bit of stoke for your day.

You can watch the three short episodes of the piece broken up through their Instagram posts below, or check out Movie Mountain’s Patreon to donate and get it in a nicer format.
