Skegss Guitarist Benny Reed On Scary Good

Written & Performed by Jaleesa Vincent, Delone Bone & Ellis Ericson

“A bit of sweetness enters my ears with that one string guitar riff. The best kind. I think a big thing that goes unrecognised with artists is the ability that some have to get creative ‘inside’ the box. Displayed greatly in this song by immediately setting the scene to a ‘Saturday’ when everything is easy and breezy but chasing the unknown can leave you stumped and a bit bummed but still enticed cos you’ve got the whole weekend to figure it out. Feeling that little bit more relaxed than you would if it were a weekday. With the drums keeping that constant thump through the whole song and the simplicity of the strumming guitar with the nice bright tone leaves you able to just sit back and clearly hear the story she’s telling in her sweet Australiana voice. Forget the bullshit for a moment… and just have a cup of tea or coffee, which is on hand in nearly every Australian household. Sometimes how long it’s been sitting in the cupboard is unknown but being able to just enjoy a cuppa with someone is really what this is all about and if you need to be reminded, just listen to the song.” – Benny Reed, Skegss
