“About 5 years ago I went on a strike mission with Garrett to Fiji. Apart from the all time waves, the thing I remember most was him constantly asking questions about being in a band and touring. Everything from what it’s like to play in front of thousands of people to stories from the road. I remember thinking that he must really have an interest in it and maybe he wants to be in a band. Hearing this song now confirms my suspicion. Although on this song Garrett has done the number one rookie move when it comes to writing vocals, which is sing the exact melody as the guitar the whole time, you can’t deny the raw energy and believability in his delivery. In my opinion, a singer being truely sincere is much more important than pitch, melody or any other aspect of being a front man. You can tell that he is genuinely pissed off and that these lyrics mean a lot to him, you can hear the passion in his voice when he’s yelling about sitting down and smoking weed… Truely meaningful lyrics and something a lot of people can relate to!
