Barrels, barbies, burnouts and a Big Banana… Welcome to Coffs Harbour, Otis Carey’s stomping ground and the biggest little city on the NSW Mid North Coast! Considering the quality of waves and the outstanding roll call of surfers who have come out of Coffs over the years it’s pretty amazing the place has stayed so underground when compared to other noted Australian surf communities, but make no mistake, this joint is the real deal and on the up as evidenced by the success of their Boardrider’s Club over the past decade. Earlier this month artist and duel Indigenous Aussie Champ Otis Carey invited the Billabong A-team (including Parko, Occy, R-Cal and Creed McTagzy) down to his neck of the woods for a day of home grown goodness with the Coffs locals. Featuring art shows, shred sessions, local dance, a performance by the Washies and Lee Winkler with his shirt off, it was a ripper day for a ripper little surf town. Sink your teeth into it here and be stoked on some good old fashioned home town pride.
