DUBAI’S PROXIMITY PREMIERE IS SURPRISING BUT TRUE!

Did you know that people surf in Dubai? Neither did we, we didn’t even know they watched movies. But as it turns out they do both with gusto, and in a month from now, this sun-stoked community will see Taylor Steele’s ‘Proximity’ for the very first time. Two thousand years after the film’s initial release, local surfers eagerly await its premiere under the five star skyline – as do the undisputed Sultans of lag, SW magazine. The film will show late October, and although SW was absent from the Sydney screening (we went to a mango orchard instead) we are assured by Surf House Dubai founder Scott Chambers that “Taylor Steele is coming to Dubai, and perhaps Rob (Machado) as well. Lots of excitement amongst the community here.” A big call perhaps, but if Tay Steele can cross the Pacific for a ‘film festival’ at the local bowling club, surely he’ll cross the Gulf for the Emirates sole surf club.
